This collection of deep red to light pink 'Boa' and 'Cobra' jewels was inspired by the experience of handling exquisite Dumeril's Boas, a smaller species of the Boa family, as well as childhood memories of snakes in KwaZulu-Natal when they seemed both beautiful and dangerous. The graceful, mesmerizing forms invite meditations on their beauty, while in design terms they present a perfect vehicle for exploring crimson in all its hues: from intense deep red champlevé enamel and rubies, to pale and ephemeral pink plique-à-jour enamel, pink tourmalines and pink sapphires. Deeply engraved rose gold also displays this tonality of pinks.
